The cabin crew is a team of in-flight members that make passengers travel comfortably while they fly to their destinations. They look after the passengers' boarding, seating, luggage storage, food and basic requirements along with their safety by introducing them to certain safety measures, also providing them with basic medical assistance if needed. They also provide a written report of all the records of the flight, which includes the number of passengers, time of arrival and departure, cabin and flight deck crew information, sales report about the food and other products, and an account of any unusual experiences in case they take place in the duration of the flight. Cabin crew training includes the study of the profession, customer handling, in-flight procedures and emergencies, basic medical training, duties after landing, dealing with customers with special needs or physical disability, food and beverage services etc. To become a cabin crew, one has to be physically fit and attractive. Some airlines have a specific weight and height. Candidates must have good communication and interpersonal skills with the right amount of tactfulness to deal with people and solve situations they encounter mid-air. Selection for cabin crew is usually based on an interview followed by a group discussion, after which certain medical tests are done. This would generally vary depending on the airline recruitment process. The minimum eligibility to apply is after completing class 12th. Before starting work as a professional, one must gain some basic knowledge about the job through a diploma course offered by various institutes that could last from 6 months to a year. A degree in hotel management is recommended for a fast-track movement. It could also help in getting hired directly by airlines. Recruiters include all the leading International and Domestic Airlines such as Indigo, Spicejet, Vistara and some top international airlines like Emirates, Qatar and Singapore Airlines.
Travelling to a destination by plane can be an exciting experience for some but could make some people nervous.
