Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT)

The SAT is a well-known standardised test. It is carried out by the College Board Organization of the United States. It is for students who want to study in another country. Almost all overseas universities require the SAT as a prerequisite. The test focuses on three essential criteria that the student must meet:

1. Composition in the form of an essay and knowledge of English grammar

2. Comprehension passages as a sort of critical reading

3. Mathematics

This is an obvious choice for a competitive exam after tenth grade for students who want to see where they rank among foreign colleges. However, an increasing number of Indian universities are accepting SAT scores instead of their own particular entry examinations.

GRE

Graduate Record Engineering (GRE) is an entry-level test for students interested in pursuing Engineering courses following graduation, and it is included in our list of key exams after 10th. It is a test that is administered in over 180 countries and serves as a fundamental criterion for admission to engineering programmes such as MS, MBA, MEM, and PhD degrees. The tests assess students' abilities in areas such as verbal reasoning, analytical reasoning, and quantitative reasoning, among others. The GRE score has a 5-year validity period. The United Kingdom, Japan, and Singapore are among the countries that accept GRE results for engineering programmes.

MCAT

Students who want to study medicine in Canada, United States, Australia, and the Caribbean Islands must first pass the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT). Its goal is to assess a candidate's problem-solving and analytical abilities, as well as their written proficiency and understanding of scientific topics and principles. The American Association of Medical Colleges administers this exam on a worldwide basis (AAMC). The MCAT is held 25 times a year in 21 different countries to open applications for those who meet the eligibility requirements.

GMAT

When it comes to management degree programmes, the GMAT is the most prestigious competitive exam. LSAT 

In the United States, Canada, and a rising number of other countries, the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) is a requirement for admission to law school. The LSAT is designed to assess the skills needed to succeed in the first year of law school. These skills include reading comprehension, thinking, and writing, and the exam results provide vital insight into law school readiness for both admissions decision makers and candidates. The LSAT is the only test that all ABA-accredited law schools accept, and it is the only test that can help candidates decide whether or not law school is right for them. Some law schools will accept tests other than the LSAT for entrance; nonetheless, candidates who wish to improve their chances of acceptance and prepare for law school should take the LSAT.

The LSAT is divided into two sections. The first section of the exam is a multiple-choice exam that covers questions on reading comprehension, analytical thinking, and logical reasoning. The LSAT Writing section is the second component of the exam and consists of a written essay. On the candidate's own computer, secure proctoring software is used to administer the LSAT Writing section. Candidates have up to eight (8) days to complete their LSAT Writing before the multiple-choice exam.

English Language Proficiency Exams 

English language tests are the ones that are required to qualify in order to follow a course overseas, out of a list of many competitive exams after 10th grade:

• IELTS

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is a mandatory test that might be your ticket to studying or working in countries where English is spoken by the majority of the population. The top most-famous countries that accept IELTS scores as part of their admission procedure are the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada. The four core portions of the IELTS exam are designed to assess a candidate's reading, speaking, writing, and listening abilities. 

There are two versions of the test: one for academic purposes and one for general training. While colleges demand the academic version, certain government agencies use the general training version for work and immigration permits. Unlike the TOEFL, the IELTS speaking section is completed in front of an examiner. With a mix of multiple choice, diagram labelling, matching, short answer, and sentence completion questions, the IELTS features a more diverse question style. Half-scores are included in the range of 1 to 9. The findings are available 13 days after the test is completed and are valid for two years.

• TOEFL

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is another English language test that is accepted by a wide range of colleges throughout the world. Colleges outside India want proof that you can communicate in written and spoken English. There are two versions available right now: an internet-based test (iBT) and a new paper-delivered test that replaces the old paper-based test that is no longer used. The full internet-based test, including the speaking section, is completed on a computer. The graders keep track of the answers and evaluate them.

The key components of this test are reading comprehension, listening comprehension, speaking, and written expression. Each component is worth 30 points, for a total of 120 points. The results are valid for two years. Many colleges demand scores in the 90-100 range, which corresponds to a proficiency level of B2 in the Common European Framework (CEF). In addition to a minimum overall score, some universities require a minimum score in each area.

• PTE

Pearson Test for English (PTE) is another Pearson VUE network language competence test. PTE is one of the most common language examinations after 10th grade, and it is taken by students who desire to pursue higher education in countries such as the United Kingdom, the United States, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada. PTE is a computer-based test that evaluates non-native speakers' English language skills in preparation for university courses in English-speaking nations. The PTE Academic, General, and Young Learners versions of the test are available. You should take PTE Academic if you're taking the test to apply for a university programme. In a single three-hour test session, this assesses listening, reading, speaking, and writing skills using a computer. It's a computer-based exam that focuses on real-world English used in academic settings, including accents and academic jargon.

• CAE

Although the Cambridge examinations are not as well-known around the world as the TOEFL or IELTS, they are frequently required for entrance to UK universities. The Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English (CAE) is suitable for someone who is already comfortable communicating in English. It is an advanced test that is regarded as proof of C1 level English, as the name implies (equivalent to a score of 7-8 on the IELTS or 110-120 on the TOEFL).

The test can be taken either in person or on a computer, though not all testing centres provide both options. Multiple-choice, fill-in-the-blanks, and matching questions make up the questions. The speaking examination is conducted in front of two examiners and another test taker. The test is conducted by one examiner, while the other assesses you and the other test taker. Test takers can receive a B2, C, B, or A grade (from lowest to highest). The lowest passing mark is C, while those who receive a B or A receive a C1 Advanced certificate. This certificate and score will be valid indefinitely. Admission to most universities requires a grade of B or higher.

•  DuoLingo

It's a combination of a shorter computer-adaptive test and a video interview. This not only combines testing and identification verification, but it also provides information on how well the student does in a conversational English situation with open-ended questions. Because each administration of the test is different, the computer-adaptive aspect of the test also helps to prevent fraud.
