The branch of science which deals with the chemical processes related to human beings is called Biochemistry and is also recognized as Biological Chemistry. This stream is all about understanding biological organisms by studying biological molecules along with chemical processes that takes place in living cells. Considering all the information, data, and knowledge the biochemistry professionals take an effort towards resolving numerous biological problems. Thus, biochemists play a very significant role towards scientific and medical advancements in the areas of agriculture, health, and environment.

Role Desciption

 

The role of a biochemistry technologist is to carry out chemical analysis for body fluids including urine, blood or spinal fluid, find out any abnormal component. Also applying polymerase chain reaction is their duty. Also they apply and perform the programs for the protein and DNA analysis. These professionals also purify and typify the recombinant proteins. Estimating the lab tests and cross checking the appropriateness of the results is also their responsibility. They also take care of liquid handling robotics and software for the succession investigation. They also train and administer lab assistants and technologists.

 

Eligibility

 

Route to Biochemistry Profession

 

  • 10 + 2 with Science Stream
  • B.Sc. (Hons) Biochemistry or B.Sc. (Hons) Biological Sciences or B.Sc. Life Sciences or B.Sc (Hons) Chemistry for 3 years
  • M.Sc. Biochemistry for 2 years
  • PhD for 3-5 years

  • Admissions in B.Sc. (Hons)/B. Tech. in Biochemistry in some colleges and universities is subject to their own entrance test or marks in 10+2
