Horticulture is mainly an applied science that caters to vegetables, ornamental flowers, and fruits. These professionals are well versed in the farming and propagation of plants for the betterment of their superiority, yield, development, nutritional value, and struggle with diseases and insects. Horticulture is definitely one of fastest developing fields of agriculture considering the continuously transforming food habits.

 

Role Desciption

 

Horticulturists are responsible for monitoring pests, weed controlling, disease control and take care of adequate health and hygiene principles. They also plan, manage, operate, and relocate lines in green house as products keeps on changing across the year. The other liabilities may include; investigating produce, pricing, and gains from horticultural operations, and designing and developing creative and better strategies for business. Also they manage the entire trading system and help in operating processes and warehousing and movements of products. These professionals also keep themselves updated with the latest developments taking place across the country and world in the horticulture industry along with ensuring complete safety, security and maintaining hygiene standards.

 

Eligibility

 

  • 10+2 in Science Stream with PCB/PCM (English is mandatory)
  • B.Sc. Horticulture (Hons.) for 3 years, or B.Sc. Agriculture (Hons.) for 3 years        
  • M.Sc. Horticulture (Hons.) for 2 years     
  • PhD for 2-3 years/Job
