Political Scientists publish research results via, academic publications, reports or presentations and develop and test theories, gather information from interviews, print media, and case studies. Collecting, analyzing and interpreting data like election results and public opinion is also a part of their job. They also evaluate programs and policies and recommend appropriate solutions. They write drafts relating to legislative proposals, prepare speeches, and policy papers for the government. They also forecast social, economic, and political trends. Consulting and advising government officials and providing media commentary or criticism about various political issues and events is also a part of the job. Political scientists contribute to both academic scholarship and real-world applications in government, diplomacy, advocacy, and public service.
