Eligibility

 


Educational Route to Become a Psychiatrist in India

  • 10+2 in science stream with PCB
  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS)
  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Diploma in Psychiatry
  • Completion of residency training in psychiatry, gaining hands-on experience in clinical settings
  • Obtain certification from the Medical Council of India (MCI) or respective State Medical Councils
  • Register with the Medical Council of India (MCI) or respective State Medical Councils.
  • Pursue fellowships or additional training in subspecialties like child psychiatry, addiction psychiatry, etc., if desired.

 

Entrance Exam: 

  • NEET-UG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Undergraduates)
  • NEET-PG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduates)
