Radiology is a medical specialty that involves the use of medical imaging techniques to diagnose and treat diseases and conditions within the human body. Radiologists are medical doctors who specialize in interpreting medical images and using various imaging modalities to aid in patient care.The group of allied medicine professionals or technicians who are a qualified and trained to make use of medical imaging techniques like X-Rays, CT scans, MRI, Ultrasound and so on to develop images of patients’ internal composition to identify any internal injury or disease are called Radio Technicians. As this entire process of imaging need the use of radiation so appropriate training is important and all the protection and safety measures need to be taken care off.   

Radiology is an integral part of modern medicine, and its role in diagnosis and treatment is invaluable. Radiologists work in various healthcare settings, including hospitals, outpatient clinics, and radiology centers, collaborating with other medical professionals to provide comprehensive patient care. Their expertise in medical imaging helps improve patient outcomes and contributes to medical research and innovation.
 

 

Role Desciption

 

Radio Technicians diagnose and provide treatment using medical imaging techniques, develop images with the help of techniques like; CT scans, X-rays, MRI, ultrasounds, and so on. These professionals need to be well informed about the body parts that need to be diagnosed. Also it is their responsibility to supervise the security and safety of the patients during imaging as radiations can prove to be harmful. These professionals should also be able to understand the reports appropriately. Patience and knowledge regarding the disease is required in Radiologists. These professionals should be able to maintain and keep appropriate records of the patient’s reports. 

 

Eligibility

 

Route 110+2 with Science Stream with Biology
 B.Sc. Radiology and imaging technique for 3 years
 M.Sc. Radiotherapy 
 Ph.D. for 4-5 years
Route 210+2 with Science Stream with Biology
  Diploma in Radiotherapy / Radio-diagnosis for 2 years
  PG diploma Radio-diagnosis
