Dentistry
Studying, diagnosing, preventing, and treating diseases or disorders related to oral cavity is known as Dentistry or dental science/medicine. The professionals who are skilled and licensed to treat diseases related to teeth, jaws, and mouth are known as Dentists. Dentists take care of the oral health of the patients as they hold specialization in teeth cleaning, root canal, tooth removal, jaw replacement and gums related problems. They are responsible for spreading awareness among masses to maintain good dental health and they also conduct various tests to diagnose the oral problems. They prescribe medicines and study the case history of patients. Dentists are bound to perform all the duties following ethical standards and communicating with the patients effectively. They also train their staff members and manage accounts of various patients.
Eligibility
Route to Dentistry Profession
- 10 + 2 in Science with biology
- BDS (4 Years of study + 1 year Internship)
- MDS 2 years
Significant Statistics
- Minimum 50% required in 10+2 with PCB (physics, chemistry, Biology)
- Admission to BDS/MBBS is obtained through NEET (UG) except for AIIMS and JIPMER
- To become a Lecturer, NET or PhD. is required
- For BDS of 5 years internship is mandatory
- For NEET students who have passed 10+2 as private candidates or from open school are not eligible to appear for the test
