Epidemiology
The study and investigation of factors contributing to the spread of diseases causing numerous health-related issues, or impact of these diseases in a particular area is called Epidemiology. The professionals’ experts in the field of epidemiology are called epidemiologists. They study and analyze how the disease has occurred and what are the reasons responsible for it. All the data and available information is used by the Epidemiologist to strategize the various stages of its prevention and cure. The Epidemiologists are employed in public sector departments as Statisticians to find patterns related to health problems. These professionals work under two categories; Researchers and Clinical professionals. While Research Epidemiologists investigate to plan a road map to eradicate or control infectious diseases, Clinical Epidemiologists deal with consulting roles at hospitals and health centres guiding the health professionals on infectious diseases and giving solutions to put off illnesses.

Eligibility
Route to Epidemiology Profession
- 10+2 with Science Stream (preferred PCB combination)
- MBBS/BDS/MOT/MPT/BVS/AYUSH/Engineering/Pharmacy/Physiotherapy/ Occupational Therapy/ Nursing/ Veterinary Sciences for 3-5 years, or Bachelors in Public Health for 3 years, or Bachelors Degree in Sociology/Economics/Psychology/Nutrition/Anthropology/Social Work
- Masters of Public Health/ M.Sc. Biostatistics and Epidemiology for 2 years, or Masters of Public Health for 2 years
- Ph. D. in chosen specialisation
