The science behind enhancement of human life and scientific study of human mind to help behavioral changes and functioning of brain is referred to as Psychology. The role of a Psychologist is to study and investigate the relationship between brain function and behavior, and the environment and behavior, to bring a better understanding and make this world a better place to live. A Psychologist usually contributes to wider areas of professions by helping organizations and businesses, guiding people to make their lives better, encouraging good health, saving and preserving the green planet, serving communities, and guiding students in schools and colleges.
Role Desciption
Psychologists mainly understand, diagnose, and treat psychological problems. Also, they design, develop and implement behavior alteration program. They try identifying the root cause of the problem by taking interviews, checking records, and understanding behaviors. Based on their study and analyses, psychologists counsel the people, groups and families to handle the critical conditions and develop an appropriate action plan. Also these professionals design therapies and treatment strategies considering the patient’s conditions and needs. Some of the significant strategies of their portfolio especially for children include teaching strategies, classroom management, and parenting tips. From time to time they are involved in research work on organizational structure; work environments group discussions, organizational hierarchy and so on. They also design and develop psychological tests, interview strategies, ranking parameters to identify the potentials, skills and likings.
Eligibility
- 10+2 in any stream with psychology
- B. A. (H) Psychology/Applied Psychology for 3 years
- Masters in Psychology for 1-2 years/ Applied Psychology for 1-2 years
- M.Phil in Psychology/Clinical Psychology for 2 years
- Ph.D in Psychology/Applied Psychology for 3-4 years
Significant Statistics
- Bachelors in any field or in Psychology/Applied Psychology or related subjects for admission to PG program is required by majority of the colleges and universities
- NET or Ph.D is must for Lectureship
- Minimum 60% in 10+2 for admission to majority of colleges
- Admission to bachelor’s degree is mostly based on 10+2 results while some institutes conduct personal interviews
