Marine Engineering is all about construction and operations of mechanical equipment of ships, sailboats, docks and harbor installations. The role of a Marine Engineer is to design, build, test and repair vehicles like carriers, cargos, drilling tools and structures around waters or seas. Also they handle the mechanical aspects of the ships including steering and momentum. Some even undertake ship designing and naval architecture. Role Desciption
Marine Engineers are responsible for the designing, construction, development and maintenance of ships, boats, and other marine machinery. Also they design, construct and control offshore platforms and arrangements. It is also their responsibility to investigate ships to find out and ensure their sea worthiness and general safety. They are usually equipped with all kinds of knowledge regarding ships be it cargo ships, ferries, cruise lines or boats. Handling and resolving problems arising out of technical faults also need to be addressed by these professionals.

- 10+2 with Science Stream
- B.Tech in Marine Engineering / Ocean Engineering for 4 years
- M.Tech in Marine Engineering for 2-3 years
- Ph.D for 2-3 years

- Minimum 50% in 10+2 for admission in some colleges while others have minimum 60% as eligibility criteria
- At least 50% in English in 10+2
- Age limit is fixed for admission to some colleges and universities
